Columbia Cashes In On Cashdales’ Charisma

TumblrRedditBlogger PostWordPressDelicious

Today marks the beginning of the Mule Day celebrations in Columbia, TN, and the Cashdales are gearing up for the Mule Day Parade this Saturday, April 11. The Cashdales are a matching team of black and white Clydesdale horses owned by Check Into Cash, a national leader in alternative financial services.

“The Mule Day Parade is one of our favorite stops on tour,” said Check Into Cash President Steve Scoggins. “The Cashdales really enjoy the fun atmosphere and the smiling faces.”

The parade begins at 11 a.m. and heads north along Carmack Boulevard, turning left onto West 7th Street, and ending at the main gate of Columbia Academy, just past the railroad tracks. In addition to the parade, the Mule Day Festival features entertainment for every age, including traditional music, flea markets, arts and crafts, pool and cornhole tournaments, local Appalachian food, and the Mule Kick 5K race. There will also be a variety of mule shows and competitions throughout the week.

“This will be the Cashdales’ third time to march in the Mule Day Parade, so it almost feels like a tradition now,” said Scoggins. “If you see the horses in Columbia, be sure to let them know you’re a fan.”

Don’t forget to follow the Cashdales on their Facebook and Twitter pages! To see where the Cashdales are going next, visit Cashdales.com.

TumblrRedditBlogger PostWordPressDelicious

Cleveland, TN – May 15, 2012

Check Into Cash announces the launch of its new website, which is designed to make it easier for customers from all over the United States to apply for cash advances and payday loans.

Check Into Cash is a leading supplier of short-term credit to American consumers. With its well-established reputation in the field of short term credit, Check Into Cash is a trusted source for payday loans, title loans, and title pawns. Other services offered by the company include check cashing, reloadable prepaid U.S. Money Cards, and walk-in bill payments.

Founded by Allan Jones in 1993, Check Into Cash prides itself on the transparency of its services. The company aims to be a beacon of honesty in what is seen by many as a shady industry. As a founding member of the Community Financial Services Association of America (CFSA), which regulates the payday loans industry, Check Into Cash aims to provide trustworthy service to all those in need of short-term cash advances.

The redesign of the website will make it easier than ever to understand and access affordable short-term credit options from Check Into Cash. “It is our goal that visitors fully understand their options, the cost of those options, and how to access the credit they need.” says Martin Pippin, Director of Online Marketing at Check Into Cash. One example of how this is accomplished is through geolocation. “Site visitors are identified by IP address and given information specific to their state. This removes multiple clicks and the opportunity for confusion as users search to find out about what services are available to them.”

Check Into Cash completes gift to Iowa Wrestling Hall of Fame, museum

TumblrRedditBlogger PostWordPressDelicious

WATERLOO, IA — Check Into Cash this week gave its final pledge installment to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum, completing a $30,000 commitment to the Iowa-based center.

Check Into Cash Founder Allan Jones is well known for being a supporter of wrestling and athletics. Jones, who was a high school wrestler, has made numerous contributions to athletics including the Allan Jones Aquatic Center at the University of Tennessee and state-of-the-art wrestling centers at Cleveland and Bradley Central high schools in his hometown of Cleveland, Tenn. Those two high school wrestling programs have placed first and second in the state of Tennessee for three consecutive years.

“Wrestling and athletics teach leadership and strong character and Check Into Cash is pleased to support these worthwhile projects,” Jones said. “Iowa is the national epicenter for wrestling and Check Into Cash is proud to support the hall of fame and museum that bears the name of a national icon such as Dan Gable.”

In 1972 Dan Gable became the first American to win a World and Olympic title in consecutive years. After winning the World Championships in 1971, Gable won the gold medal at the Munich Olympics without surrendering a single point in his six matches. He also amassed numerous titles and records as a collegiate and high school wrestler in Iowa. Gable later coached Olympic and international teams, and led the University of Iowa to unparalleled success including a stint of nine consecutive NCAA titles and numerous other accolades.

The National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum provides free wrestling seminars with world class athletes throughout the year. The Gable Museum also recently partnered with the Boys & Girls Club and United Sport & Athlete for an ongoing wrestling club.

Kyle Klingman, director of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum, said the Check Into Cash gift will go far in preserving the history of the sport as well as developing the future of wrestling.

“This generous contribution to our organization allows us to continue important programming that involves youth,” Klingman said. “We are grateful to Allan Jones and Check Into Cash for believing in our efforts.”

Payday advance customers speak out to Congress

TumblrRedditBlogger PostWordPressDelicious

The payday lending industry has released a new video featuring several of the tens of thousands of customer letters sent to Congress in recent weeks.

“While the letters speak for themselves, this new video gives viewers real appreciation for the customers who want continued access to payday advances,” said D. Lynn DeVault, Board Chair, Community Financial Services Association of America.

“Payday lending customers sometimes need a few hundred dollars to make ends meet between paychecks,” said DeVault. “These are real people, facing real life circumstances. Unfortunately, in media coverage and during policy debates, the quiet voices of customers are overshadowed by activists who would like to see payday lending eliminated.”

“The video gives a voice to a handful of customers, representing the 19 million households who used payday advances last year,” DeVault concluded.

More than 10,000 customers of Check Into Cash joined the letter writing campaign.

Independent research underscores need for short-term credit in Wisconsin

TumblrRedditBlogger PostWordPressDelicious

Julie A. Urban, Ph.D. and Marzeih Bolhassani, Ph.D., both of the University of Wisconsin System, released the findings of their recent payday lending survey today at the 2009 Understanding and Overcoming Poverty in Wisconsin Conference.

Urban and Bolhassani conducted an independent survey of payday advance customers in Wisconsin, and found, among other conclusions, that 60 percent of those surveyed view payday advances as less expensive than bank overdraft fees, and 40 percent believe credit card late payments are more costly than payday advances.

The study also finds that the majority of payday advance customers choose the product due to an unexpected expense, and they consider other options, such as bank overdraft fees, auto title loans, credit card late payments, pawn shops and borrowing from friends and relatives before taking out a payday advance.

Of those surveyed, 83 percent have overdrawn a checking account, 59 percent have exceeded their limit on a credit card and 68 percent have been denied a loan, all in an effort to obtain short-term credit. An overwhelming 98 percent of respondents think money management courses are critical to making sound financial decisions, and 45 percent of those people believe that such courses should be taught as early as middle school.

“The need for short-term credit is indisputable,” said D. Lynn DeVault, Board Chair of the Community Financial Services Association of America. “This study proves what short-term lenders have been saying for quite some time: when faced with the exorbitant costs of bounced check and credit card late fees, thousands of Wisconsinites choose payday advances to help them overcome short-term financial emergencies.”

Payday advances remain a unique short-term credit option not readily offered by other financial institutions, and a smart choice in comparison to unregulated products such as off-shore Internet lending or the costs associated with revolving credit card balances and fees for bank overdraft protection. Consumers should be smart about their money and savings, and any form of credit can be mishandled. But it is important to understand that payday advances can be an effective short-term financial solution for Wisconsinites whose options may be limited.

Check Into Cash operates 33 centers in Wisconsin. Nationwide, there are more than 1,100 Check Into Cash Centers in 30 states.

Check Into Cash Completes Check Cashing Conversion to Chexar® Risk Management Platform

TumblrRedditBlogger PostWordPressDelicious

Check Into Cash, Inc. has just completed the conversion of more than 1,000 of its financial service centers to a risk management solution offered by 8 year old Chexar Networks, Inc. (“Chexar”) in Atlanta, Georgia. The transition is a key step in Check Into Cash’s transformation into one of the nation’s largest diversified financial service retailers, serving the more than 100 million under-banked people in America.

Steve Scoggins, Check Into Cash President and COO explained that “check cashing is a major component of our strategic plan for the future and Chexar’s solution has enabled us to experience rapid growth by cashing any type of check that our customers need us to cash. This capability, combined with our other suite of financial products, has positioned us to become a true alternative solution to the nation’s under-banked consumers in the 30 states where we operate.”

Chexar’s unique solution was developed in 2001 originally to facilitate the cashing of all types of checks in the company’s own revolutionary Hispanic focused banking operation in Atlanta, GA, called El Banco de Nuestra Comunidad® (“El Banco”). Soon after word got out into the banking community that El Banco had a solution that would enable them to compete with traditional check cashing outlets, inquiries started to come in. In 2007, the company sold the banking operation and changed its name to Chexar Networks, Inc. to focus 100% on the technology and verification side of the check cashing business.

Chexar Founder and CEO Drew W. Edwards explained that “our solution is a unique, one of a kind combination of technology, databases, and a live risk management call center where our systems and check cashing experts are able to quickly review checks for our clients and make the appropriate decisions to enable successful check cashing services. We learned while operating El Banco that saying no to our customer was not an option and that these customers expected us to be able to cash over 20 different types of checks including hand written, two party checks, money orders, cashiers checks, rebate checks, insurance checks, etc. The more volume a client does with us, the more automated their checks become as our systems learn the market surrounding each of their locations and our algorithms watch for unusual activity requiring human intervention. This process is very similar to credit card fraud management.”

Scoggins added, “The principals at Chexar seem to share our values, know this business, and have been reliable and responsive. These are qualities we look for in a partner.”

Edwards went on to say “I always considered Check Into Cash one of the best operators in the payday advance industry and it is fun to watch as this first class large scale company transforms itself rapidly into a major competitive force in the financial service center industry utilizing our solution.”
