7 October Sale Items to Snag This Month

Autumn brings colored leaves, cooler weather, and end-of-season sales. In fact, October promises many useful items on sale. Summer has simmered down, but we’re still many weeks away from Black Friday and huge holiday shopping sales events. So, even if money is tight, there may be a few things you and your family need. If you’ve been shopping and saving for any of the items listed below, now might be your best time to buy. Act now or hold your peace until Black Friday.

October happens to be a big nationwide sales month for shoppers. So, here are 7 October Sale items to look out for while prices are slashed.

When Do October Sales Begin?

By the time you’re reading this article, October sales will already be in full swing. They usually begin after Labor Day and extend throughout the entire month until Halloween and beyond.

Here are 7 October Sale Items to Look Out For

1. Buy a New TV

Remember the days when flatscreen televisions were super expensive? Those days are long gone. Now, you can get a bargain on a nice size television. That’s why televisions are some of the top October sale items this year. You’ll find many top-notch features among these autumn TV deals, like LED display, 4K resolution, and Smart TV technology. Things to consider: Don’t get too wrapped up in the excitement. Choose a television that fits your room nicely. No, it doesn’t have to be a 70-inch widescreen. It also doesn’t have to be the nicest name-brand, either.

2. Looking for a Laptop?

With online learning on the rise and working from home becoming the new normal, you may be in the market for a new laptop. So, now could be a good time to take advantage of laptops and tablets on sale this October. A few things to consider when purchasing a new laptop:
  1. Is this the right operating system for me?
  2. Do I want a 2-in-1 laptop or a tablet instead?
  3. What is the best screen size for me?
  4. How long does the battery last?
  5. What type of processing power is available?
  6. Is this a reputable name brand?

3. New Headphones on Sale

Perhaps you’ve already got your laptop, but you need a way to block out the world so you can focus. A new pair of headphones could be the cure. And lucky for you, lots of headphones are on sale this month. Things to consider: Some headphones are noise-canceling. Some are wireless and Bluetooth enabled, while others have wired connections. Some fit over the ears, while others are like earbuds. Will you use these new headphones mostly for work, or when you’re at the gym, or both? Also, try to visit a storefront so you can try on these headphones and connect them to your device before buying the right pair, if possible.

4. Maybe a New Mattress?

Oddly enough, mattresses are one of the leading October sale items this year. And if you haven’t heard, mattress shopping is completely different than it used to be. Many major mattress brands are exclusively sold online. They ship your mattress all rolled up in a box. It arrives at your door, and you open up the vacuum-sealed package as your new mattress comes to life. Welcome to the future. Things to consider: In this scenario, it’s nearly impossible to try before you buy. So, if you choose to go this route, make sure you read the reviews online. Do plenty of research before deciding on the best mattress for you and your family.

5. How About Home Furniture?

Your local furniture store probably has a few October sale items marked down this month. If you’re looking for home furniture, this could be a good place to start. Also, mega-retailers like Wayfair, Kohl’s, and Bed Bath & Beyond have ongoing October sales. Things to consider: While you may find a few October sale items that are too good to pass up, gently used furniture can be just as good. Look for thrift shops or second-hand stores in your area. Or, try shopping around on your local Facebook Marketplace.

6. All-New Appliances

If you’ve been saving for a new home appliance, October may bring some pretty sweet deals. From refrigerators to dishwashers to washers and dryers, this could be your opportunity to score big. Check out large retailers like Lowe’s, The Home Depot, Sears, and Best Buy to scout out a few huge appliance sales.

7. Summer Clothes

As summer fades away and the weather cools down, you’ll begin to see lots of summer clothes on sale. If you stumble across deep discounts on warm-weather wear, it may be a good idea to purchase them for next year. However, this only makes sense if these items are on sale for next-to-nothing. Things to consider: It’s easy to get caught up in the sales hype. Before you buy a bunch of items you may not absolutely need, take a moment to think. Walk away. Ponder on your purchase for at least an hour before you make your final decision.   Need Some Cash?
